Pakistan Cricketer Khushdil Shah Contemplates Leaving National Team Over Selection Issues

Pakistan National Cricket Team all-rounder Khushdil Shah has voiced his frustration with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over his consistent snubs from the national side despite impressive performances in domestic and international cricket. The talented cricketer last featured for Pakistan in September 2025 during a T20I match against the UAE. Since then, he has been overlooked for selection, leading him to question his future in Pakistani cricket.

Challenges in Making a Comeback

Despite showcasing his skills and talent in various domestic leagues and international matches, Khushdil Shah has struggled to secure a permanent spot in the national team. During a recent podcast appearance alongside his teammate Abbas Afridi, Khushdil highlighted his frustration at being ignored by the selectors despite his exceptional performances, especially while batting at No. 5 or lower.

Khushdil Shah emphasized his unique contribution to the team, stating, “I’m the only player in Pakistan who has scored 800 runs, 700 runs, and consistently made big scores while batting at No. 5, 6, and 7. No other batsman has achieved those numbers from those positions. All the batsmen ahead of me bat in the top order.”

Threat of Leaving Pakistan Cricket

During the podcast, Abbas Afridi revealed a conversation he had with Khushdil Shah, where the latter expressed his frustration with the situation. Khushdil reportedly mentioned that he was considering leaving Pakistan cricket if he did not receive fair treatment and opportunities to represent the national team.

Khushdil Shah’s concerns extend beyond emotions, as he firmly believes that the PCB should not discriminate against him and should recognize his consistent performances and potential contributions to the team. He stated, “Whatever is in my heart comes out through my words. If people don’t like me, that’s fine, but they shouldn’t be unfair to me.”

Khushdil Shah’s Career and Achievements

Khushdil Shah, known for his powerful hitting abilities, made his international debut for Pakistan in 2019 and has since represented the country in various formats.
