Sam Curran set for Test comeback? Marcus North drops major England update

**England All-Rounder Sam Curran Set to Return for Third Test Against Pakistan**

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have revealed the squad for the upcoming Test series against the Pakistan National Cricket Team, set to kick off on August 19. Exciting news for England fans as all-rounder Sam Curran is poised to make a comeback in the squad for the third Test. This news comes as a pleasant surprise to many fans and cricket enthusiasts who have been eagerly awaiting Curran’s return to the traditional format of the game.

### Sam Curran’s Journey and Recent Form

Having made his debut at the age of 19 in 2018, Curran quickly established himself as a key player for England in white-ball cricket. However, due to injury concerns, he has been absent from the Test arena since 2021. After missing the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2026 due to a groin injury, Curran worked on his fitness by playing in the T20 Blast as a specialist batter. His recent performances in the white-ball series against India showcased his bowling prowess and fitness, making him a strong contender for the Test squad.

### Selector Marcus North’s Insights on Curran’s Return

Marcus North, the newly appointed England selector and former Australia cricketer, hinted at Curran’s potential comeback. With Ben Stokes retiring from Test cricket earlier this year, Curran is seen as a like-for-like replacement who can provide the team with a balanced lineup. North expressed confidence in Curran’s abilities and stated that the all-rounder is a player of great interest for the team’s future.

### Why Curran Was Initially Left Out

North explained that Curran’s omission from the initial squad was due to a heavy workload during the summer, leading to minor injuries and niggles. Despite being a vital player, the management decided to prioritize Curran’s fitness and well-being, ensuring he is fully ready to make an impact in the third Test. The backroom staff and medical team are closely monitoring Curran’s progress and are working towards his seamless integration into the squad.

In conclusion, fans can look forward to seeing Sam Curran back in action for the England National Cricket Team in the upcoming Test series against Pakistan. With his all-round skills and potential to shape the team’s future, Curran’s return is sure to add excitement and depth to the squad.
