Shukla emphasized that there is no truth to the reports suggesting that Rohit Sharma, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, is contemplating stepping away from the game.

**Rohit Sharma’s Stellar Performance**

Rohit Sharma’s exceptional performance in the third One Day International (ODI) against England at Lord’s Cricket Ground further solidified his importance to the Indian cricket team. The right-handed batsman scored an impressive 138 runs off 110 balls, including 17 fours and five sixes, at a striking rate of 125.45. Rajeev Shukla reiterated that Rohit Sharma continues to be an integral part of the Indian cricket team and is dedicated to playing at the highest level. He urged fans to disregard any unfounded rumors circulating on social media or in the press, emphasizing that there is currently no indication of Rohit Sharma considering retirement.

**In Defense of Gautam Gambhir**

Shukla also voiced his support for head coach Gautam Gambhir amidst criticism following India’s recent defeats in white-ball cricket against Ireland and England. He emphasized that while everyone is entitled to their opinions, the decision regarding team composition ultimately lies with the selectors. Shukla commended the current leadership, noting that the Indian team has been performing well and winning matches.

**India’s Recent Losses**

Despite recent setbacks in the ODI series against England, where India lost 2-1, and earlier defeats to Ireland and England in white-ball cricket, Rajeev Shukla expressed confidence in the team’s abilities and highlighted the importance of continuity in leadership.

**Promoting Young Talent through UP T20 League**

Rajeev Shukla praised the UP T20 League for its role in nurturing young cricketers and providing them with opportunities to showcase their skills. He mentioned that the league has been instrumental in helping numerous players secure contracts in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Notably, 18 players from Uttar Pradesh are currently representing various IPL teams.

**Speed Hunt Initiative**

Shukla also highlighted the UPCA’s Speed Hunt initiative, which identified 38 talented fast bowlers capable of bowling at speeds exceeding 135 km/h. Twelve of these bowlers were part of the mini-auction, offering them a platform to impress IPL franchises and further their cricketing careers.

**Growing Opportunities for Young Cricketers**

With 282 players entering the auction pool for six franchises, and 45 players set to be selected, the UP T20 League continues to provide invaluable experience to over 120 young players each season. Rajeev Shukla emphasized the significance of such platforms in preparing the next generation of cricketing talent in India.

Rohit Sharma’s Consistent Form

One of the key factors contributing to the speculation surrounding Rohit Sharma’s retirement is his consistent form and remarkable performances in international cricket. As one of the most prolific batsmen in the Indian team, Rohit Sharma has time and again showcased his ability to dominate opposition bowlers across all formats of the game. His adaptability, technique, and leadership qualities have made him a valuable asset for the team.

Rohit Sharma’s Captaincy Stint

Having previously led the Indian team in limited-overs cricket, Rohit Sharma’s captaincy stint further solidified his position as a strategic and astute leader on the field. Under his guidance, India achieved significant victories and displayed a cohesive team spirit.
