In the 1st ODI of the three-match series, India vs England, Team India captain Shubman Gill and pacer Gurnoor Brar collided with each other while taking a catch. Nobody called for the catch, as the ball went up in the air; Brar, coming from mid-on, and Gill, coming from mid-off, had a collision.The incident occurred during the first ball of the 16th over when Prasidh Krishna ran in to bowl Jos Buttler as the wicket-keeper batter tried to flick through his pads, and the ball got a little hold as it got a thick edge and went up in the air.Shubman Gill and Gurnoor Brar survive fatal injuryGurnoor Brar and Shubman Gill had eyes on the ball; not sure if any of them called. Brar hung on even as he bumped into Shubman Gill’s shoulder. Gurnoor Brar, after the catch, gave a funny reaction to his captain as the latter lay down after crashing into the bowler. Gurnoor Brar strikes double wicketComing to the match, England captain Harry Brook won the toss and elected to bat first in Birmingham. Openers Ben Duckett and Jacob Bethell had a cautious start against Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna. They took charge against Gurnoor Brar in the later phase of the first powerplay. However, Brar had the last laugh as he dismissed both the openers in the same over; first it was the struggling Bethell who was back in the pavilion for 14 runs off 31 balls, then Duckett fell for 43 runs.
