Kulwant Khejroliya Expresses Interest in Playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2027

Indian left-arm fast bowler, Kulwant Khejroliya, recently shared his thoughts on potentially joining the Chennai Super Kings for the upcoming Indian Premier League season. With a solid IPL career representing various franchises, Khejroliya expressed his desire to play under the leadership of the legendary Indian captain, MS Dhoni.

Khejroliya’s IPL Journey

Throughout his IPL career, Kulwant Khejroliya has played for Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Gujarat Titans. However, the Chennai Super Kings remain the only franchise he has not represented yet, making him eager to don the yellow jersey and play under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.

Having played only nine IPL matches since his debut in 2018, Khejroliya has taken six wickets at an economy rate of 11.01. In the previous IPL season, he featured for Gujarat Titans as an injury replacement, showcasing his skills in the limited opportunities he received.

In the Delhi Premier League 2026, Khejroliya exhibited his bowling prowess by securing seven wickets in just four matches, including an exceptional performance with figures of 3/25. His consistent form and impressive economy rate of around 6.50 have established him as a reliable asset for his team, the West Delhi Lions.

Chennai Super Kings’ Road to Recovery

After a disappointing IPL 2026 campaign where they finished eighth and missed the playoffs, the Chennai Super Kings are gearing up for a major rebuild in the upcoming season. Despite a mid-season recovery, the team faced challenges throughout the tournament, leading to their inability to secure a playoff spot.

One of the significant setbacks for the Chennai Super Kings in the previous season was the absence of MS Dhoni, who missed the entire IPL due to a calf injury. With uncertainty surrounding Dhoni’s future with the franchise, the team’s CEO, Kasi Viswanathan, has emphasized that they will respect his decision whether he chooses to return as a player, coach, or mentor.

Looking Ahead to IPL 2027

In a recent interview with Sports Yaari, Kulwant Khejroliya expressed his dedication to performing well in domestic cricket and his eagerness to contribute effectively to any team that picks him during the upcoming IPL auction. While he maintains no specific preference for a franchise, the opportunity to play under MS Dhoni and represent the Chennai Super Kings seems appealing to the talented bowler.

As the excitement builds for the IPL 2027 season, fans eagerly await the auction to see where Kulwant Khejroliya’s journey in the league will take him next. With his skills and determination, Khejroliya is poised to make a significant impact and continue to shine on the cricketing stage.

With his knack for picking up crucial wickets and maintaining a tight economy rate, Khejroliya could prove to be a game-changer for the Chennai Super Kings, especially in the powerplay and death overs.

Furthermore, Khejroliya’s adaptability and willingness to learn from experienced players like MS Dhoni could further enhance his skills and overall performance on the field. Playing alongside stalwarts of the game could provide him with invaluable insights and help him evolve as a bowler, making him a valuable asset for any team he represents.
